How to Get and Use Your API Key

If you want to use the UrlShoter Chrome Extension, you will need your personal API key. This key connects the extension to your account and allows you to shorten links directly from your browser.

Step 1 – Register an Account

Go to UrlShoter.com and create a free account.

Step 2 – Login to Your Dashboard

After registration, log in with your email and password.

Step 3 – Generate Your API Key

  1. Open the menu Account → Developer / API

  2. Click Generate API Key

  3. Copy your personal key (it looks like a long string of letters and numbers).

Step 4 – Add the Key to the Extension

  1. Install the UrlShoter Chrome Extension

  2. Open the extension and click on the ⚙️ Settings (gear icon)

  3. Paste your API key in the field and save.

Step 5 – Start Shortening Links

Now you can right-click on any link or use the popup window to shorten URLs instantly.
All your shortened links will appear in your UrlShoter dashboard.
